Ivan the Terrible was the first Tsar of Russia...though, he threatened to abdicate twice. He had some stunning victories, a massive fall from grace, and one spectacularly awful example of filicide which triggered the fall of the entire Rurikid Dynasty that had been in power over 600 years.
