She began writing poetry in elementary school when a teacher gave her a journal and the summer homework assignment to write. Tenesha grew up in Oakland, Ca. and has performed with performance artist groups Her Temple Monologues and Urban Guerilla Theatre. Tenesha performed at Glastonbury and Love Supreme in 2019. She is signed to On The Corner Records. Dj Khalab produced her powerful, soulful spoken word album Peacocks & Other Savage Beasts which we discuss in this episode.
