Emily Swisher is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in equine interventions and trauma. Her education includes a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Colorado State University and a Master's in Clinical Counseling from Regis University. Additionally, Emily is a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning from PATH International. Her further interest in mind-body responses to trauma prompted her to become trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). With her expertise in trauma and equine interventions, Emily has written several publications and spoken at conferences on trauma informed care in therapeutic riding facilities. As a proponent for women's rights, Emily has also testified at the Colorado State Capitol as a representative of the Junior League of Denver. Her first novel, STABLE: A Therapist and the Healing Nature of Horses was published in April 2024. Chronicling her personal development with horses, STABLE explains why these extraordinarily intuitive animals have the ability to mirror human emotions, helping us to discover hidden parts of ourselves to overcome trauma, bring peace and show us how to live more authentically and mindfully.
