Hello and welcome to this week’s episode of the Blaney philosophy podcast

This is where we learn from the greatest philosophers in history how they develop their identities how they saw their place in their communities and how they saw the world. It is now November. We all went out and scared each other silly.

We got some candy and what not. That was all good for the kids but the adults are their own thing going on. It was the sober October month. With that out-of-the-way we are now in no remember November. This is the month where you make up for all the drinking you missed out on last month. It all balances out to see? There’s a Ying and Yang. There’s a sober and a drunk. There’s an upside to the Schwartz and a downside to the Schwartz. Sometimes you end up with the upside and sometimes you end up with the downside. My opinion is that drinking games are for amateurs.

Movember is what Friedrich Nietzsche would say this month is all about. He had a big bushy mustache going on that was in your face. He came into the room before him and announced his Presence. I wonder what Tyra banks would have to say about him. She could have him on an episode of America’s top philosophers. She could analyze his choice of wardrobe and facial hair. She could tell us what kind of statement he is making. Full frontal Nietzsche would be the title of that segment. The title of this next segment is Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone. Chapter one. I had some trouble sleeping recently. I turned to my old reliable habit of reading before I went to bed. I pick something you like to read. Something children would like. Something pure and innocent. Then I found myself in a psychological thriller. That is - harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone. Hats the name of the first book in the seven book series. It starts out with hairy being left on the doorstep. My mind immediately went to Moses being left to be discovered by a new family. I’m thinking who are his parents? What Mark did they leave on him? Does he have any special powers? Who are the people that will find him? We find out the people that will find him are the Dudleys. They are highly flawed people. They are by the book. They are scared of life. They fear others. We soon find out that they resent harry for being in our lives and having to look after him. They don’t treat him well but they do provide him with a roof over his head. They feed him and give him clothes. They may be hand me down close but nonetheless they clothe him.

Who shall clothe to me? Who should give me to eat? Who shall blah blah blah? These highly flawed people are those people. It makes you think about family and those who are closest to you.
