While on foot patrol in Afghanistan, Jack stepped on an IED which led to the loss of both of his legs. After his injuries, Jack has gone on to author a book, 5 Minutes: 300 Second That Changed My Life, as well as travel the country delivering motivational speeches.

He retired with a record of 144 wins and 37 losses in football and 652 wins and 134 losses in baseball with 6 consecutive trips to the State Championship tournament.
