A native Washingtonian who earned her undergraduate degree at Yale and her medical degree from the University of Michigan. Her Ophthalmology residency was completed at Georgetown University Medical Center.

She is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who began performing laser vision correction practically from its inception in this country and participated with the LASIK trials to get the procedure approved by the FDA. She is recognized as an expert in her field and has lectured around the world. Recognized by The Academy of Ophthalmology for her vast experience in the field, she was appointed Chairperson for the Refractive knowledge-based panel of the Academy which develops content for the maintenance of Board Certification.
