Jake Doherty Studied History and Philosophy at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta Georgia returned to Louisiana before moving to Germany. Worked for the American military recreation department in Garmisch-Partenkirchen as a waiter and bartender for three years then opened their own bar and restaurant for three years. Traveled Italy, Austria, and Switzerland for two years before returning to Garmisch and working in tourism before opening their own tour guide service - all things garmisch - for over eleven years. In March of 2020 they watched as all their bookings and reservations were cancelled and all deposits returned. Jake was forced to let their staff go, mothball the business, and look for another avenue to put food on the table. It was a life changing moment. They wanted to help others that were in the same traumatic situation and so they went back to their restaurant roots and opened - Deri Dari - an online platform, in the United States, where out of work chefs create and sell interactive live cooking Experiences for purchase that are coupled with ingredient delivery in the U.S. Each course is purchasable by household allowing friends and family to connect with a chef and cook a meal together.
