Huhtikuussa vuonna 1991 Christopher Case löydettiin menehtyneenä kylpyhuoneestaan. Olosuhteet olivat epätavalliset jopa rikostutkijoiden mielestä. 35-vuotias mies oli ennen kuolemaansa kertonut ystävilleen, että hän oli joutunut noidan kiroamaksi. Ennen tätä Christopher ei ollut uskonut mihinkään yliluonnolliseen, eikä hän tiedettävästi kärsinyt mielenterveyden haasteistakaan.
