James, the brother of Jesus, confronts us with strong words designed to call us to live out a bold and active faith in Christ. From James 5:7-12, Pastor Seth Winterhalter preaches on James' call to patience. In this text we see analogies of a patient farmer waiting for precious fruit, of prophets who suffered patiently, and of Job was steadfast in the midst of his sufferings. Here we are challenged to commit to the life of a farmer, seeking after the precious fruit that comes from the gift of salvation. This gift of salvation leads to a life of transformation that bears the precious fruit of the Spirit. To bear fruit is to be assured of salvation and that fact that the Spirit is at work within you; to not bear fruit is a sign of your need for genuine salvation.
