- 9 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.
- 10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.
- 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.
- Read Acts 2:44-45 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
- Read Acts 4:34-35 34 For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

- The Greek word for humble is "tapeinos." It literally means low lying or not rising far from the groung.
- Figuratively it means low socially/financially or low ethically or with humility.
- Read Matthew 6:24 24 "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
- Read Deuteronomy 8:18 18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.
