Pastor Wood teaches from the book of James. We cannot ask dead people to do anything. There are people who are spiritually dead but claim to be speaking for the Lord. We express faith by what we say and what we do. If we don't trust God's word and do what it says, that is not obedient faith. We are saved by grace, through faith, and it is displayed in the works we do.
