James is a consultant for the Colorado Workforce Development Council, and has recently become a bit of a viral sensation for simply doing what he could to make a difference in his Denver, Colorado community. For the last few years, James had made the decision to not drive a car as it would be better for the environment. This led James to seek out public transportation and utilizes the buses throughout his city. The more than James took the busses, he started to realize that many bus stops did not have proper seating for riders to use while waiting. One day James noticed a woman sitting in the dirt waiting for a bus, and that was the moment he knew that he wanted to do something. James made the conscious decision to make a bench for this specific bus stop. When it came to the bench, James also added the message "Be Kind" onto the bench. While I found the idea of James making a bench for this local bus stop wonderful, the inclusion of the "Be Kind" message is really what stood out to me. In my mind, James went above and beyond, not only helping his community but also encouraging others to look after one another. James has already made a significant impact within his community, but I truly think this is just the beginning for him. While I know that he's focused on his own community, I know that his story and actions will inspire others to do what they can to make their communities even better.
In this episode James talks about finding community, being kind, questioning things, and much more!
