James Wharton is n Aussie racer who is making a rapid rise up the motorsport ladder.

He’s won karting titles both here in Australia and overseas, before stepping up to open-wheel racing and becoming a member of the prestigious Ferrari Driver Academy in 2021.

 Since then, he’s gone on to win the Formula 4 UAE Championship, finish runner up in both the Euro 4, and Formula Regional European Championships.

In 2025, he made the leap up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship — the breeding ground for future Formula 1 stars, and joined fellow Aussies Oscar Piastri and Jack Doohan in becoming a race winner, with a dominant victory at the Red Bull Ring.

In 2026, he reunites with the PREMA Racing team for his second full season in the FIA Formula 3 Championship and will race in front of his home crowd in Melbourne at the season-opening Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

James joins us on 'The Podium' to talk about his discovering motorsport at 8 years old, the early days in karting, moving to Europe at 13 with his father, joining the Ferrari Driver Academy, going up against F1 stars Kimi Antonelli, and Arvid Lindlad, breaking through for his first win in FIA Formula 3, reuniting with Prema Racing for 2026, and answers some fan questions!
