When the King’s Son came near to the thorn-hedge,

그것은 크고 아름다운 꽃일 뿐이었습니다.

it was nothing but large and beautiful flowers,

꽃들은 그들 스스로 얽기어 갈라졌고,

which parted from each other of their own accord,

그를 다치치않고 지나가게 하였습니다.

and let him pass unhurt.

그리고 장미들은 그의 뒤편에서 울타리처럼 닫혔습니다.

Then they closed again behind him like a hedge.

In the castle-yard

그는 말들과 누워 잠들어 있는 점박이 개들을 보았고,

he saw the horses and the spotted hounds lying asleep.

지붕에는

On the roof,

그 날개 아래에 고개를 넣고 앉아있는 비둘기들이 있었습니다.

sat the pigeons with their heads under their wings.

그가 집안으로 들어왔을 때

And when he entered the house,

곤충들은 벽 위에 잠들어 있어고

the flies were asleep upon the wall,

부엌의 요리사들은 여전히 그들의 손을 소년을 붙잡기 위해 내민 채였습니다.

the cook in the kitchen was still holding out his hand to seize the boy,

그리고 하녀는 검은 닭의 옆에 앉아있었는데

and the maid was sitting by the black hen

그 깃털을 뽑으려고 하는 중이었습니다.

which she was going to pluck.

그는 더 멀리 갔고,

He went on farther,

큰 홀에서

and in the great hall

그는 정원 전체가 잠들어있는 것을 보았습니다.

he saw the whole of the Court lying asleep,
