Jan Scruggs is a decorated Vietnam Veteran. At American University in Washington DC he studied the impact of war time trauma on Vietnam Veterans. He testified at US Senate hearings and wrote articles in the Washington Post on the issue of Post Traumatic Stress.
To help Vietnam Veterans gain societal recognition and recover from the War he created plans for a national Memorial in Washington DC engraved with the names of the fallen in 1979. Three years later the Memorial was dedicated despite considerable controversy over the design. What is known as The Wall to veterans now receives over 5,000,000 visitors annually.
Jan is a graduate of the University of Maryland Law School and a Member of the District of Columbia Bar Association. He is semi retired in Annapolis, Maryland.
