Janet had always loved writing and appreciated things explained well. So, on writing an obituary for a friend, who, by the way, is still alive, she presented it more like a love letter. 

For Janet, the idea evolved from there to not wait until you're six feet under to know how people felt about you plus, according to her reality, you see yourself more clearly through the eyes of someone who loves you.
