Janet Guthrie was the first women to compete in the Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona 500, and she was the first woman to qualify for a NASCAR Cup Series race.  After studying physics & aerospace engineering at the University of Michigan, she began her racing career in the 1960s.  She was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2006.


Catharina van Hemessen was a Flemish Renaissance painter who was active in the 16th century. One of the first female artists to achieve recognition in the Low Countries, Catharina is known for her portraits and religious paintings.
