Janice Steinberg is the author of The Tin Horse (Random House, 2013). Set in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles in the 1920s and 30s, The Tin Horse has been praised as "a vibrant portrait of community" (Publishers Weekly) and "a novel rich in faith, betrayal, and secrecy that explores the numerous ways people are shaped and haunted by their past." (Library Journal)

Steinberg is also the author of five mystery novels and an award-winning arts journalist with more than 400 articles in the San Diego Union-Tribune, Dance Magazine, Los Angeles Times, and elsewhere. She has taught writing at the University of California,
