Property and Construction have a fair few abbreviations and technical talk, so this week Dan and Gary decided to go through their top 20 and most common jargon busters.
- AST = Assured Shorthold Tenancy
- BRR = Buy, Refurbish, Rent out
- CIS = Construction Industry Scheme
- DPS = Deposit Protection Service
- EPC = Energy Performance Certificate
- FCA = Financial Conduct Authority
- GDV = Gross Development Value
- HSE = Health and Safety Executive
- JCT = Joint Contracts Tribunal
- LTV = Loan to Value
- OIEO = Offers in Excess of
- PD = Permitted Development
- PI = Professional Indemnity Insurance
- PLO = Purchase Lease Options

Firstly thanks for tuning into our podcast.
We are Dan Hulbert and Gary Sandford and what we share, we practice and can back up the content with over 50 years combined experience in construction and 12 years in property investment and development. Both our journeys started on the tools and progressed our careers in construction management. We were both craving more and wanting to work for ourselves, this separately led to pursue a career in property. We were both travelling down our own B roads and came together to create our very own A road where we are investing, developing and educating others in property and together created the Hulsford property group and Building on Solid Foundations.
We decided it would be a good idea to share this combination of Practical Property experience and Building Knowledge through our podcast. We understand there are a lot of moving parts in property and the world is saturated with theory, but what is needed is practical wisdom and that is exactly what we offer.
Our main focus is working with Local authorities in London to provide them Emergency housing, where we are currently working with 10 different local authorities. We provide quality property on a rent to rent basis and we work with private investors to fund those opportunities. Since June 2020 we have supplied over a 1,000 units and helped over 10,000 people in need of a place to stay and be secure.
