Jason Kreis was part of the first MLS season and recorded 300 appearances over 12 years in the league. After his playing career he transitioned into coaching, taking charge of Real Salt Lake, New York City FC and Orlando City SC between 2007 and 2018. At RSL his philosophy turned a struggling franchise into one of the MLS powerhouses, led by the mantra of “the team is the star.” He became the youngest head-coach in MLS history to win the MLS Cup in 2009, and he led them to playoff appearances in all subsequent seasons through 2013. By then he had recorded a CONCACAF Champions League final appearance as the first MLS team to do so, and a lost MLS Cup final on penalties in 2013. In January 2019 he took the position of Senior Academy Director of Inter Miami and in March 2019 he was named U.S. Men’s National U-23 Head Coach.
