Everyone has a story. I felt it was time to be a little more open and vulnerable with you and share my story.
In this episode, I sat down with Azonani Bernal, Founder of InPowerTribe. We discussed all things of how I overcame the "victim mentality" from no longer asking myself "Why me?" to shifting my mindset and asking myself "Why not me?." I opened up on how I went from being in the foster care system, growing up with addict and incarcerated parents, to moving out of my home at the age of Seventeen, with over 17 home addresses to date (being reported as a "missing person") and to taking legal guardianship of my younger brother (co-host for Season 01) at the age of Twenty. I was forced to grow up at an early age; survive and overcome a system that was not built with success in mind. I refused to be another statistic and chose to be my own success story.
It felt like I was at rock bottom for the majority of my childhood and my youth, and in that moment I realized something very important. Rock bottom is an amazing springboard to grow from. Despite all the pain that I endured, I can tell you with all honesty that I still would not take it back, because it helped build my mental toughness instilled a relentless work ethic to survive and gave me a heart of humility.
I finally decided to stop being a victim of my circumstances and made a decision to change them, to give my brother and I the stability we never had, but always craved. My journey of personal development began and I started going after EVERYTHING I set my mind and heart to, no matter how hard it was, an UNBREAKABLE spirit was created in me.
I turned my pain and hurt into fuel. I learned to forgive and rebuild a beautiful relationship with my mother, I got in the best shape of my life, physically, mentally and emotionally. Things really started to change when I began surrounding myself with high level people, people who I wanted to be like. From there an idea came, “How can I share my story with others?” and "How can I become a vessel to make an impact in the lives of others?".
The Unbreakables Podcast was born. The mission is to change people’s perspective and mindset the same way mine was changed. I am a living example of turning my tragedy intro triumph. To show you that with a positive mindset, faith and the will power to persevere ANYTHING is possible!
My life is truly just getting started, because I finally know what my purpose is. Maybe you’re looking for that, PURPOSE. You might be in a rock bottom season, and it doesn’t look like there’s any way out. Trust me, there always is, it gets better, but only if you decide and put in the work to make it better. I hope that my story and the people I interview can give you the inspiration to make it happen. After all, we are all UNBREAKABLE.
Now turn your mess into your message and use it to impact someones life!
