Proud to support Black Poetry and Jaylene Clark Owens of Harlem, New York. After meeting with Officer Wendy Yancey of Sleepy Hollow, this poem spoke volumes to her experience and intersectionality as a Black Female Officer. Enjoy.
Jaylene Clark Owens is an AUDELCO and Barrymore Award winning actress. She is a member of The Wilma Theater's resident acting company, HotHouse. Jaylene is also a highly acclaimed spoken word poet. She is the Executive Director of Harlem KW Project, LLC, which is the company she started with three other women to write the play, Renaissance in the Belly of a Killer Whale.
