JB Goes For 50 In OT Win!!
After a huge win to end 2021 against the Suns, the Celtics looked to start 2022 on a high note as well. the first quarter they came out and played fairly well and looked like they were going to win this handily. They had a 28-19 lead after the first and then proceeded to lose the 2nd quarter 23-17 and lost the 3rd quarter 35-20.... What plagued the Celtics during this horrible stretch of basketball? TURNOVERS! This has been one of our Achilles Heels for the last couple years and tonight the Celtics had 22 total turnovers that led to 21 points of turnovers. We also allowed 10 offensive rebounds which didn't help the cause. What I'm trying to say is, this was an ugly game for the Celtics for the majority of the game.
BUT
Jaylen Brown put on a cape and played superman tonight. He ended the night with 50 points 11 rebounds and 4 assists and carried this team to victory. We had some excellent defensive stops late in this game including a great steal by Smart that led to a JB transition bucket that tied the game late but JB scored 24 points in the 4th quarter and OT combined and was nothing short of spectacular. Smart, Schroder and JB were really the only 3 players that played well tonight despite Al Horford hitting a clutch corner 3 from JB to solidify this victory in OT. An ugly win is better than an ugly loss any day of the week. If you can take anything positive from this outside of JB's performance, its that the Celtics faced adversity and battled back with great defensive effort and constant ball and player movement late.
