  • Esterel Happy Hour 2026-09-25
The final Happy Hour of the season began quietly. By the time the last Friday arrived, the younger summer crowd had long since gone home, leaving behind a smaller group of mostly retired guests enjoying their final evenings at Esterel.
So this one was a slow burn.
For more than five hours, the music gradually found its way into the room — familiar grooves, warm house, disco touches and deeper sounds, building almost imperceptibly as the evening went on.
And then, somewhere along the way, the room changed.
People who had been sitting with their drinks were suddenly on their feet. By the final stretch, the dance floor was alive and the remaining guests were determined to squeeze every last drop out of the season.
After 5 hours and 20 minutes, the music finally had to stop — not because the party had run out of steam, but because the staff had decided it was time to go home.
One last Friday. One last dance. One last Happy Hour. See you next summer.

Sunday was always going to be a quieter affair. The season is winding down, and with fewer people around, there was no reason to try to lift the roof.
Instead, this one was for the House heads.
Starting deep with Lovebirds, Dam Swindle, Anja Schneider and Kerri Chandler, the set settled into a relaxed groove before wandering through soulful house, disco touches and some beautifully atmospheric deep-house territory.
There were familiar voices along the way — Crystal Waters, Röyksopp, Depeche Mode and London Grammar — but the mood stayed firmly rooted in the groove.
As the evening progressed, the music became deeper and more spacious, eventually moving into Sasha, Marsh and Josh Wink territory.
A smaller Sunday crowd, perhaps, but an audience that was really listening — and letting the DJ know they appreciated it.
One of those evenings where a quiet rooftop can be the perfect place to play exactly what you want to hear.

September is getting late on the French Riviera, but somehow the rooftop was still full of happy faces.
Band night had moved to Saturday, so once again Happy Hour had to wrap up early to make room for the live cover band. With that in mind, this set stayed firmly in familiar territory — soulful house, deep grooves, disco touches and plenty of tracks that could bring a smile without demanding too much from the evening.
From Joey Negro and Eartha Kitt to Rock With You, Stupidisco, You Got The Love and Lovely Day, the goal was simple: keep the rooftop feeling good right up until the handover.
Another late-season sunset, another rooftop full of people, and another reminder that summer wasn't quite finished yet.

Another Friday evening on the rooftop, with the season slowly winding down and a more mature crowd settling in for the sunset.
The atmosphere was relaxed and sophisticated, with plenty of familiar faces enjoying drinks while a few younger guests — and three determined French moms with their kids — kept things interesting. The moms were still campaigning for “Bam Bam,” but tonight called for something a little smoother.
Starting with funky house and soulful grooves, the set gradually moved through deep house, disco and progressive sounds before settling into a deeper late-evening groove.
A warm Friday soundtrack for the last weeks of summer on the French Riviera.

Sunday brought another intimate late-season gathering on the rooftop. With the younger summer crowd already heading home, the atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried — exactly the kind of evening where the music could breathe.
This was a smooth journey through Deep House, House and Nu Disco, moving between soulful grooves, familiar favorites and a few understated club moments. Nothing needed to be forced. The rooftop crowd could enjoy a drink, watch the evening settle in over Saint-Raphaël, and let the music quietly carry things along.
From Sade-like soulfulness and disco touches through French flavors, funky house and deeper grooves, the set gradually evolved without ever losing its relaxed character.
Another Sunday at the end of summer — fewer people, perhaps, but the same sunset, the same rooftop, and plenty of good music.

The season was winding down, and you could feel it on the rooftop. The younger crowd had already headed home to get ready for the return to work, leaving behind a smaller, more relaxed Saturday gathering.
So there was no need to lift the roof tonight. Instead, this set settled into something warm, familiar and effortlessly groovy — Sade, Nu Disco, Deep House and plenty of soulful House woven together for people enjoying their drinks and the last weekends of summer.
A few recognizable favorites, some disco flavor and a steady sunset groove kept things moving without ever pushing too hard. It was less about the dancefloor and more about the atmosphere: good music, good drinks, and the Mediterranean evening slowly settling in around the rooftop.
A quieter Saturday, perhaps — but still very much an Esterel Happy Hour.

Friday evening on the rooftop, with clear skies, warm Mediterranean air and another live band waiting in the wings.
I opened the evening with a warm, soulful selection of House and Deep House, gradually building the groove as the rooftop settled into the weekend. From the deeper sounds of S.A.M., Chris Stussy and Saison to familiar favorites and a few more disco-leaning moments, the set was all about creating a comfortable atmosphere without letting it become background music.
As the sun went down, the energy slowly climbed. A little more groove, a little more movement, and eventually a few bigger vocal moments — just enough to get everyone ready for what was coming next.
The final stretch moved toward a more uplifting house sound, ending with Franky Rizardo's remix of “Moonlight To Sunrise.”
Then it was time to hand the rooftop over to the live band.
Another Friday at Esterel Happy Hour — warm grooves, good people, Mediterranean skies, and a smooth transition from DJ booth to live music.

    Sunday surprised us.
What started as another relaxed Happy Hour on the rooftop quickly turned into something much more energetic. A group of new faces discovered the music — and apparently discovered an unlimited supply of dancing energy along the way.
From warm Deep House and soulful grooves through Nu Disco, House and Afro House, the rooftop gradually became a little Sunday dancefloor of its own. The music kept moving as the sun went down, with a few familiar classics, a couple of unexpected turns, and enough groove to keep everyone going.
By the end, the new crowd was still dancing, the rooftop was glowing, and Sunday Happy Hour had turned into a surprisingly lively little party.
One more sunset, one more dance. 🌅

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Saturday. Instead, the rooftop ended up full for the entire afternoon, with some guests even discovering there wasn't a seat and coming back later.
So I settled into the groove.
Starting with warm Deep House and soulful rhythms, the set gradually moved through House, and deeper grooves without ever pushing too hard. The idea was simply to create the kind of atmosphere that works on a Mediterranean rooftop — relaxed enough for a drink and conversation, but with enough movement to keep the room connected.
It turned out to be exactly what the crowd wanted.
The music carried on as the sun went down, moving from the warmth of Franck Roger and Sebb Junior through Nina Simone, Chris Stussy, Kolter, Hot Since 82 and Deep Dish, with the rooftop staying busy all the way into the evening.
Sometimes the best sets aren't the ones where you try to make something happen.
They're the ones where you look around and realize that everyone is already having a good time — and nobody wants you to stop.

Clear blue skies, a warm Riviera sunset, and one of those late-summer afternoons that seemed to ask for nothing more than a cold drink and some good music.
This session started deep and understated, gradually bringing in jazz, soul, disco and funky house as the afternoon slipped toward sunset. From St Germain and Dr Packer to Rock With You, Lady (Hear Me Tonight) and Free, the energy slowly found its way upward without ever losing that relaxed rooftop feeling.
The set had to finish a little earlier than usual as the rooftop was needed for the evening's live music. So rather than force a final peak, I eased things back down with Spooky and Save a Prayer — leaving the crowd in the right place for the two acoustic guitarists who followed.
A shorter Happy Hour, perhaps, but a very fitting sunset soundtrack.
