September
Here it comes again, that month to remember
Summer time simmers a drawn out surrender
It's a good place to leave the beach body behind
And let the mind buckle under the weight
And as the leaves begin to let go
We build fortresses out of LEGOs
I remember the towers falling
As I pulled off the interstate
And in the morning you better take a sweater
Try to find a way to make yourself feel better
You know you never can depend appoint the weather
It's a chance we've all got to take
Kids are back in school, lunch is in the sack
Immune system's under attack
Thank God football's back
'Cuz we could all use a little break
And every year about this time I feel like something's new...
September
Watching the seasons change
September
Everything's rearranged
September
Isn't it a pity this itty bitty city's deranged?
And here we go again, so don't change the channel
Dig through your closet, find your favorite flannel
'Cuz you're gonna need it a little later tonight
And don't forget your bonfire guitar
I guess my new favorite color is plaid
It goes along with being a dad
I can pack the whole house for a soccer games
In the minivan like a rock star
And in the attic, just for rhyming reasons
There's boxes for all four seasons
I think I wanna say Polynesian?
Doesn't matter what the costs are
My good friend Jeff's in the Lone Star State (howdy)
We've been writing songs since '98
Our little band's gonna make a big break
I think we're doing good so far
And every year about this time I feel like something's new...
September
Watching the seasons change
September
Everything's rearranged
September
Isn't it a pity this itty bitty city's deranged?
