A proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Hammer earned an MFA in Screenwriting at the University of Southern California and returned to USC as adjunct professor in the John Wells Division of Writing for Screen & Television. As a screenwriter, his work has received distinction from the Walt Disney Studios/ABC TV Writing Fellowship, the Alfred P. Sloan Commissioning Grant
