As Mark Twain once said, "whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to reform." The bike frames made by Jeff Jones are built on a similar premise. After years of working in the industry and questioning various norms Jeff concluded that everyone was following frame design rules that didn't make complete sense. Rather than tweaking standard geometries, Jeff started with a blank slate and built frames around wide rims and wide tires, with a fit based on human bio-mechanics and comfort. Enter the current lineup of Jones Bikes - the Long Wheel Base (LWB) model and the Short Wheel Base (SWB) model in your choice of either the more traditional diamond frame style or Jeff's signature Space Frame style made with either steel or titanium tubing. These frames tout a number of features considered unorthodox by the rest of the industry such as: a greater fork offset (55mm for the Plus SWB and 76mm for the Plus LWB), non-suspension corrected frame geometry, 150mm front and 148mm rear spacing, with shorter reach, and slacker seat tube and head tube angles than most bikes. The result is a wide-tired bike that cheerfully does it all without the unnecessary discomfort. We encourage you to take a look at the framesets, blog posts and numerous resources over at jonesbikes.com. You also owe it to yourself to try out one of the Jones Loop bars if you haven't already. They are a revelation offering multiple hand positions while positioning the rider more upright (if installed as recommended) taking upper body weight off the hands. Go check them out!
