Jeff is a solo artist, a longtime member of Tortoise, a sideman who's played guitar on over 150 albums by various artists including Daniel Lanois, Nels Cline, Brian Blade, Charles Earland… and he's also scored 2 films

Jeff talked about the backstory to his awesome album, The New Breed, which was a tribute to his dad who had recently passed around the time this album was made. Jeff had a great upbringing and has a supporting family now, and both of these have helped him get through the "feast or famine" that's sometimes involved in being a musician.
