The FDA and Smiths Medical announce the recall of Jelco Hypodermic Needle-Pro® Fixed Needle Insulin Syringes with 28 and 29 gauge needles.  The syringe barrels are defective with skewed odd number line graduation markings that would lead to incorrect insulin dosages.  This could produce serious and life-threatening shifts in a patient’s blood sugar levels.  If you have these syringes, do not use them but return them to the place of purchase.  If you have questions, contact Smiths Medical by phone at 1-(800-258-5361 or online at at https://smiths-medical.custhelp.com.
