Jennifer is a PhD candidate in Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh. She previously earned her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University in her hometown of Richmond, Virginia. Her current work in the Rehab Neural Engineering Labs (RNEL) studies mechanistic changes in the brain after a stroke, which can lead to visual-spatial attention and upper-limb motor dysfunction. The ultimate goal of this work is to develop technology-driven rehabilitation protocols and tools to facilitate stroke recovery. Jennifer is deeply passionate about STEM outreach to her local community, undergraduate mentorship, and inclusion of women and historically-marginalized groups in STEM spaces. Outside of lab, she enjoys rock climbing, crocheting, and hiking.
