The Jennifer Ward Oppenheimer Research Grant is an academic initiative that seeks to support early-career African researchers focused on innovative research that will contribute to the advancement of environmental solutions. This year’s winner is Dr. Gideon Idowu from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Nigeria. Dr. Idowu explored the health effects of micro-plastics on the continent and the impact that chemical contamination of freshwater bodies has on rural communities.
