Jeremiah calls the nation to repent. God gives Jeremiah a parable of the loincloth. Israel is like a spoiled loincloth worthless because of man’s pride. Israel’s pride keeps them from turning back to God. God warns of punishment coming soon, by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.
