I was interning at a drop-in center for homeless youths. Most of them were addicted to one substance or another and were regularly high. Few had completed school to a significant level. And all had experienced more trauma in the past week than I had in my whole life time. And I was charged to communicate a biblical truth that would inspire and encourage these young souls, which is when I opened my Bible to Jeremiah 29:11: 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
