God's generous invitation to His people, which is ours through Jesus Christ is to be in covenant relationship.  A covenant relationship is the deepest, most enduring, most elastic kind of relationship.  It is not just based on simple provisions, but expands and moves with challenges and changes.  It's really amazing that God would covenant with us.  As His church, we walk in this covenant relationship together with Him and with each other.
