Former NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year and 12-year veteran for the Cleveland Browns, Jerry Sherk, sits down with Mark Glicini to have an insightful, vulnerable conversation about his journey, athletic transition, and philosophy. Named to four Pro Bowls, Jerry was honored by the team in 2005 by being named a “Cleveland Browns Legend.” Not only is Jerry commonly considered to be one the best defensive players in NFL history (after not going out for football until senior year in high school), Jerry was also a wrestler at Oklahoma State University. After retiring from the National Football League, Jerry went on to earn a masters in psychology, to research extensively the topic of “Athletic Transition,” and to be a national consultant for youth mentoring programs. Over the last 25 years, he has been the Director of Education and Training for the California Mentoring Partnership. Listeners will hear Jerry's perspectives on the power of mentors, the hero's journey, and how seemingly the worse things in life turn out to be the best things for us down the road.
