Jessica and I grew up in the same town Kaneohe, Hawaii on the island of O’ahu but came from two different worlds. By the time I was off to Los Angeles to go to college at USC, she was spiraling down the dark vortex of drugs, alcoholism, and uncontrollable rage. In this episode she shares her journey about how she finally found peace after seeking professional help after 40 years of pain. Her only medicine her Dr. prescribed to her was: never letting go of her passion for paddling in a canoe, and her love for the ocean.
The place that Jessica herself went to for medical psychiatric treatment was a local resource in South Carolina called Life Resources, recommended to her by her marriage counselor through her local church. They do not treat people out of state through virtual platforms due to state licensing limitations.
