Jesus instructs his disciples to forgive their brother or sister, even if they sin against you, and repent, seven times in one day. The disciples ask Jesus to "increase their faith", but His response is not what they expect.

Jesus teaches that there is no merit in faith, only reward. So, the only path for us, is to step forward in obedience.
