Matthew 17
In this chapter, we see that Jesus always answers. He comforted the disciples, His three chosen few, His small circle, by touching them and asking them to get up and not be afraid. For God, the Father had spoken to them and confirmed Jesus' sonship identity.
Jesus answered the disciples' question about Elijah by saying that he had already come and they "did to him whatever they wished," referring to John the Baptist.
We are to have faith as small as a mustard seed to see great miracles in our lives. This seed is very small compared to other seed sizes. It is hard to acquire this amount of faith, but it can be obtained.
Jesus paid taxes in a practical demonstration. This act was not just a mere example for Peter but a model for all of us. As they both were from Capernaum, a city now associated with Jesus, the lesson was clear: we are to obey God's and our government's laws. In doing so, we can expect God's blessings and provisions to meet our obligations, even our taxes.
