Jesus and the Man Born Blind, John 9 Lesson 13

Listen Later

Jesus and the Man Born Blind, John 9 BSF Lesson 13

Why does God allow some people to be born to very difficult circumstances? What can we learn from a person who seem to be the least kind of person we can learn anything really positive from? Jesus teaches us that our beliefs about what constitutes a life that God can and will use is totally wrong. Why might Jesus use mud made from spit to undertake this healing? And what might this mean for our faith walk with God in the Holy Spirit.

Divisions:

Jesus healed a blind man on the Sabbath. (John 9:1-12)

The Pharisees investigated the healing and threw the man out. (John 9:13-34)

Jesus led the formerly blind man to spiritual sight. (John 9:35-41)

Subject sentence:

Jesus healed a blind man and condemned spiritually blind Pharisees.

Aim: Only Jesus can make blind eyes see.

Applications:

1. How has dull spiritual vision prevented you from seeing greater realities of God’s Word? In what ways do you resist the spirit perhaps using something you find uncomfortable, disgusting, or unfamiliar to humble you and enable obedience to following Him?

2.When has suffering in your life provided an opportunity for God’s work and glory?

3. Like the man who was healed, how has your commitment to Christ caused division or disagreement in your relationships?

4. What has God used to open your eyes to who He is? How has He filled your life with praise and thanksgiving?
