Sermon Application
Sunday we were encouraged to understand our identity and where it comes from. This week, spend some time reviewing the sermon and then discuss the following questions:
1. Where does the Christian find his/her true identity?
2. Christians can, at times, displace their true identity by trying to find it in the wrong things. These can even be good things like a career, a ministry, marriage, parenting, etc. In what things have you/are you place your identity? Or, put another way, are there things that you have tried to find your value you in other than Jesus himself?
3. Are you currently bored with the Lord Jesus? Can you explain why? Is there something you're needing that you feel he has not provided? And is there something you're desiring that he is not giving? Is your lack of satisfaction in him rooted in what you perceive as the lack of his gifts? As a group help one another think about these things.
4. Are there voices other than God's (his word) that you're currently giving most/all of your attention to? Or, are there things God is saying in his word that you're struggling to listen to and believe?
May the Lord be pleased to help us, by his Spirit, to locate our identity in the person and work of his glorious Son.
