Overview: As we come to John 12 this week, we enter a dramatic crescendo in John's gospel. Until now, Jesus' hour had not yet come -2-4- 4-21, 7-6, 30, 8-20-. But now, with the raising of Lazarus in the previous chapter and the anointing Jesus receives from Mary, together with his entry into Jerusalem and the presence of some Greeks wanting to see him, Jesus declares, -The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.---This is a monumental turning point in all history. Jesus is announcing the imminent hour of his death. However, he describes this as the hour of his glory- We will hear more of this in the following week, but for now the words of Jesus will suffice, -Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone- but if it dies, it bears much fruit.- The death of our Lord Jesus brings forth a bountiful harvest. A harvest in which all who believe share in, to the glory of God.
