Mary’s beautiful song of praise is commonly called the Magnificat, from the Latin for “magnify.”
Mary magnifies the Lord, proclaiming God’s greatness and rejoicing in God as Savior. She begins with God’s actions in her own life, for in choosing her to be the mother of the Messiah, the Mighty One has indeed “done great things for” her. God wants to do great things through us as we share the birth of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ!
What is Advent?
Advent is a four-week season of preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas and it always has a theme of looking towards the future coming of Christ at the end times.
God shows his mercy and grace through the presence of Jesus. We need to be the face of Jesus in the world today and share the “Good News” of the Gospel.
Why is Advent significant?
Advent gives us an opportunity to do three things:
1) Reflect on our relationship with Almighty God through Jesus Christ…
2) Repent for our sins & wholeheartedly return to God…
3) Rejoice as we celebrate the gift of love we receive because of the birth of Jesus Christ!
