We love Jesus and are all about living Jesus > everything... but can we do that by mere willpower and conviction? NO! To live the life God has invited us to we must live in submission, and enjoyment of His presence through the power of the Holy Spirit. Only when our lives are turned over to Him can we know and live Jesus > everything.
