Whether you are a follower of Jesus or not this is a passage that confronts your complacency; it’s a passage that shines a light on where you are stuck in your ways. But Jesus doesn’t just show us this morning what’s wrong; He shows us a better way, a new way. But the only way we can receive this new life is to acknowledge and admit that the old needs to die. In the first half of John 5 we see this morning that Jesus marks the beginning of God’s work to bring about new creation and restore life to that which is dead.
