When Joseph and Mary take Jesus to the temple, they receive two amazing confirmations about Jesus’ identity.

Simeon calls him the salvation and glory of Israel (Luke 2:30-32).

The 84 year old prophet Anna calls Jesus the redemption of Jerusalem (Luke 2:38).

We are still witnessing the truth of Simeon’s words: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed” (Luke 2:34-35).
