While most common people welcomed Jesus and His messages, the Jewish leaders did not. They became envious of the attention and they feared that He might cause a disruption of their favored position with the Romans and upset their apple cart. Jesus didn’t hesitate to point out the hypocrisy and shortcomings of those who were supposed to lead others closer to God. As a result, they began looking for an opportunity to bring Him down. They were about to get it.
