Jesus Lived the Life We Could Not Live
📖 Luke 2:39–40 (NIV)
“When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.”
Luke summarizes Jesus’ early life with powerful simplicity. Jesus grew under God’s grace, fully pleasing to the Father. This growth was not just physical, but spiritual—He lived a life marked by wisdom, strength, and God’s favor.
Jesus did what we could not do perfectly: He lived in complete obedience to God. His righteousness was not achieved in a single moment but expressed through a lifetime of faithfulness. This perfect life would later become the foundation of our salvation.
Many people live with guilt, feeling they never measure up spiritually. This passage reminds us that our hope does not rest on our performance but on Christ’s obedience. When we trust in Jesus, His righteous life is credited to us.
Let this truth free you from striving and fear. Instead of trying to earn God’s approval, live from the assurance that you are already accepted in Christ.
Thank You, Jesus, for living the life I could not live. I rest in Your grace today, not in my own efforts. Help me grow in wisdom and trust as I follow You. Amen.
