Luke 23:1-12
We can see that when Jesus spoke to Pilate, he confirmed that he was the King of the Jews, but he didn't say it outright, as he did when the Sanhedrin questioned Him. Jesus knew they were envious of Him, so He did confirm with a "Yes, I am" (chapter 22:70). Jesus knew they would unjustly judge Him. Nevertheless, it had to be done for Him to resurrect from the grave and provide us with reconciliation with the Father.
