Jesus Makes Himself Known - John 2

Jesus does two important things to make himself known in John 2, but both events are very different from one another. What did Jesus want His disciples and the world to know about Him at the very beginning of His ministry? At the same time, according to verse 24, Jesus did not open Himself entirely to be completely known - why? And how should we respond to all this?
