Jesus Meets Us in the Ordinary
Ptr. Gerbert Reyes (PE)
Luke 5:3
“He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.”
Jesus didn’t wait for Simon to come to Him. He stepped into Simon’s boat—into his workplace, his routine, his ordinary day. This moment reminds us that Jesus meets us right where we are. Whether we’re at home, at work, or in a season of struggle or success, He is present and active.
Simon wasn’t seeking Jesus; he was just doing his job. Yet Jesus saw him, engaged him, and began a journey that would change his life.
We often think we need to be in a “spiritual” place to encounter God, but Jesus is already in our everyday moments. He uses our routines as platforms for His purpose.
Reflection: Where in your daily life might Jesus be trying to meet you? Are you paying attention to His presence in the ordinary?
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for meeting me where I am. Help me to recognize Your presence in my daily life and be open to Your voice, even in the most ordinary moments. In Your Name, Amen.
